At the heart of Foster+Partners’ Principal Tower development, Flux is an embodiment of constant change.

Located between London’s cultural hub Shoreditch and Bishopsgate on the cusp of the City’s business district, Flux echoes the sense of activity and dynamism expressed by this part of the capital.

Ensconced within the footprint of the Principal Tower’s sweeping staircase, Flux is a sculptural composition of 75 bespoke illuminated pendants descending over 6 metres, linking both floors of the main atrium. A constant stream of cascading light falls within glass tubes, suggestive of a flow of data or a light rainfall, and symbolic of the bustling area outside.

Visible from the street, Flux is a landmark by day and a beacon by night – casting dramatic shadows that dance across the reflective surfaces of the interior.
