UK lighting visionaries 'Light Collective' commissioned us to take part in the 'Play of Brilliants' show at the fantastic Elephant Paname arts venue in central Paris. We were invited to show two pieces of work in the show; Disco Disco is a sound responsive light sculpture which is inspired by the humble disco ball. It uses a modular system of acrylic fins arranged in a circular configuration, the tips of which act as giant pixels, spreading and abstracting white light through the adjacent space.
The second piece is entitled 'Oroshi', and is inspired by the forenamed Japanese wind that sweeps down steep mountain slopes. Featuring 180 handmade ceramic leaves from an ongoing collaboration with UK based ceramicist Jasmin Rowlandson, the artwork sweeps round two floors of the main stairwell, and features integrated uplighters causing the 18 karat gold lustre surfaces of the leaves shimmer and punctuate the fantastic interior volume.
