'More than the sum of its planes'

Haberdashery was commissioned by British Land and architecture practice Squire & Partners to create this unique sculpture as one of three artists, including Based Upon and Neil Canning, invited to decorate the reception area of this new Mayfair landmark building.

Made of a total of 768 glass planes, each etched with a unique graphic inspired by nearby Green Park, a floating fractured form is created as the etched details glow in their totality with the brass trim referencing materials and shapes found in the other artworks within the space.

The iconic Tweed Herringbone pattern is echoed in the arrangement of the hanging glass planes; the mirrored panel above the piece further amplifying the effect. Whilst seated in the 7 Clarges Street Lounge area the piece takes on a new life when seen from below.
